welcome to the RHPblog!

this blog is for those who are in or somehow involved with the resident honors program at the university of southern california. for more information, see the official RHP website.

let me start the blog with a quick overview of the purpose and goals of this blog. although this blog is sure to change and evolve over the next few days (as i begin to tell RHPers about it), i will lay out my preliminary ideas and see where it goes from here.

ideally, this will not be like the millions of "xangas" and online journals that are littering the internet. instead, it will be a place where RHPers can inform friends, family, and peers about what is going on with regards to their college experience. it's unique in that we are leaving high school early - that is, skipping senior year. it is sure to be of interest not only to each other, but also to our families and to prospective students who are looking to the program. to that end, i hope that it becomes a useful resource and offers valuable insight into the lives of students who are going to college a year early.

who knows what will happen when other RHPers start posting on this blog?

Cool idea Elliot! I guess you'll tell us more about this in the near future.

I'm not John Selson, I'm Sean Nelson, the guy from the packet with the really bad handwriting......Selson's the name on my parody blog www.quitegood.blogspot.com

I'm looking forward to talking to all of you....are any of you going to the June 30th/July 1st orientation?

I knew we could count on Elliot to start up a blog. I'll be going to orientation on June 27-28.
For those who haven't been involved with posting on the College Confidential forum, here's the URL for the thread about RHP. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=31567
Unfortunately the person who started the thread didn't get accepted.

Orientation June 27-28. Jenny, we should meet up there.

Does anyone know how many people are in RHP for this coming year?

Sam said...

Penny told me 29 were admitted and that usually around 25 actually come.

Yeah, you are a genius.

Well, I feel kinda dumb for posting a new message when I guess I should have done a comment.

I guess some of you already know each other...

I'm pretty sure I'm going to the Thursday-Friday orientation, I forget the dates. Probably June 30-July 1.

Why in hell would someone not come who got admitted?!

Some people just apply to see if they can get in, then make their decision based on financial aid, geographic location, and other factors. Some people actually enjoy high school!

I'm having problems joining this blog.
I clicked on the link sent in the e-mail but it said it had already expired. Maybe someone could send me another invitation?

I'm going to the first orientation which is in a couple weeks!

Megan, yeah we should definitely meet up. I realized that I asked for other people's photos, and then didn't post any for myself. so you can see some here. I won't lie, I hate myspace, but I lost a bet so I had to sign up (aka go to the dark side). Actually the bet was that I wouldn't get into USC. My friends kept pestering me about not being on myspace, so I said "Sure, I'll get one, just as soon as I get into USC, so we can keep in touch." I thought this was about as likely as saying "Sure, I'll do it when hell freezes over and pigs fly." But I guess I can't complain :)

Great idea Elliot on starting a blog! Going to the July 6-7 orientation, doesn't seem like anybody is going to that one so far!

Just as a side note, I got housing in Trojan hall, not marks. I wonder if anybody else has this happen too. Weird...

Megan said...

Well, they're connected, aren't they? So you're still close, Anuj...
and who knows, I don't have my housing assignment yet, I may have been shifted too. Hopefully I'll get that and the autobiography profiles later today.

you got trojan hall? that's a shame. i guess we'll just have to alternate our friday night stargate party. :P

we certainly will! except I have a feeling I might end up spending a majority of my time in marks...haha
